Ankaramy (also known as Ankaramibe) is a town in the north west of Madagascar at the southernmost extent of the Panther chameleons range on the west coast. Males from the Ankaramy Panther chameleon locale are often referred to as “Pink Panthers” in the pet trade because of their pink coloration, sometimes speckled with darker pink speckling. They also typically have light blue crests and a solid white unbroken stripe running down the lateral line of the body. The lips are also white, and grey barring is sometimes present on the flanks.
Ankaramy males are very similar to males from Nosy Radama and are often extremely difficult to tell apart. Some males from the island of Nosy Radama can be identified because they are more of a red-pink than males from the mainland, but this is not always the case.
