The town of Maroantsetra is located on the east coast of Madagascar, to the west of the Masoala peninsula. Males from the Maroantsetra Panther chameleon locale typically have a green-yellow base color which changes to a yellow-orange color with orange-red bars when the animal is displaying.
Males from the Maroantsetra locale share some characteristics with males from the Tamatave and Masoala locales. Males from Maroantsetra can be distinguished from males from Tamatave by the fact that they tend to show more orange during display, while males from Tamatave tend to display more red.
