The Masoala peninsula is located on the east coast of Madagascar. Males from the Masoala Panther chameleon locale typically have a green background color with burgundy bars. When displaying the body color changes to a yellow-green color.
Males from Masoala closely resemble males from the Maroantsetra and Sambava locales, and have often been said to look like a cross between the two. Specifically, Masoala males have body colors and patterns that resemble Sambava males, while the head more closely resembles the Maroantsetra males.
